Going that extra mile

Net-Hero is all about giving back.

And while we're famous for our environmental efforts, each year, we also support selected charities.

Each chosen charity receives £1 each for every tonne that is offset.

CHARITY PARTNER

ACE SMA's primary goal is to raise money in order to fund clinical research into the enhanced benefits of bespoke and regular physiotherapy for children with SMA.

SMA stands for Spinal Muscular Atrophy. It's a rare, genetically inherited neuromuscular condition. Young children's symptoms present themselves at different times depending on the severity of the condition.

Signs of SMA may include muscle weakness, breathing problems, delayed gross motor skills or difficulty with crawling and walking.

The aim of this 2 year project, in partnership with The University of Oxford, will be to gather enough evidence in order to create long term change in the way in which physiotherapy for SMA is funded and provided, as well as run a pilot that can be rolled out across the country.

CHARITY PARTNER

StarterMotor is a historic car charity entirely focussed on the next generation. It does this by providing access to careers through apprenticeships and other training opportunities, working hand-in-glove with partners such as The Heritage Skills Academy, Hero ERA and Goodwood.

It also encourages classic car businesses to engage with the next generation by providing job opportunities. It has a fleet of ’training cars’ for colleges to use and young people to drive. StarterMotor supports over 200 apprentices with a target to grow to more than 500 in the next two years.

'They are the future lifeblood of the industry, we need to help during this trying time'
– Patrick Burke, Director Net-Hero

'Our objective is straight forward- to put young people in old cars, whether they are apprentices or simply enjoying driving them. If we don’t succeed our whole community will begin to disappear'
– David Withers, Chief Executive StarterMotor

A Classic Car Tour in Support of the ACE Project

On Saturday July 2nd 2022, supporters will assemble at the HERO-ERA HQ at Bicester Heritage; the first business campus dedicated to historic motoring based at the UK’s best-preserved WW2 RAF bomber station. Participants will set-off in their vintage and classic cars for a stunning summertime driving tour of Oxfordshire, all in support of ACE for SMA.

A hospitality stop mid-route will give participants a private viewing of the treasure trove F1 collection at Williams Heritage. Back at the HERO-ERA HQ, lunch will be served on the rooftop terrace above the classic car gallery, giving crews a chance to share experiences and refuel ahead of an afternoon of twists and turns on the famous airfield test track at Bicester Heritage.

HERO-ERA have made their entire Arrive & Drive fleet available for this event, ensuring everyone has an opportunity to drive a new or favourite classic car.

Funds raised through the ACE in Motion Tour 2022 will go directly to the ACE research project in collaboration with MDUK Oxford Neuromuscular Centre, Department of Paediatrics, University of Oxford. This project will fund a two- year trial of intensive physiotherapy alongside disease modifying drugs for 20 children currently living with SMA.
